Recent letters on Much Ado, about Conrade and about the DC production
lead me to ask for memories and references. If you wish to write more
than for the group, please send directly to me. Though I am on
sabbatical in Cambridge, UK, the umanitoba e-mail address should work.
If you receive no acknowledgement, I have not received your comment.
1] Do you have any specific or general memories of the Barton Raj Ado
for the RSC in 76? Especially of interest: interplay between Dench and
Sinden, the best I have seen, despite some reservations in questions to
Barton at the International conference. Any special memories of alleged
racism, colonialism, esp in John Woodvine's Dogberry? In a recent
interview, John and Ann Barton
explained how they tried to avoid giving offense.
2] Does anyone recall vivid treatment of Margaret and possible conflicts
in recent productions?
3] I'd welcome any specific comments on productions, especially of the
last 15 years, and esp any done in countries other than the UK and US.
