Fran Teague suggests that Desdemona should have been left unscathed even
if she had yielded herself to "the general camp/ Pioners and all".  Ed
Taft, on the other hand, considers Gloucester's blinding "appropriate
punishment" for his having "apparently" seduced one woman (on the
assumption that she was lower class).  The paradox is that Fran and Ed
probably agree with each other.
