Subject: Davy Jones
I'm not sure what Sophie Masson means by "a Davy Jones in the theatre,
and that he's even mentioned in Henry IV." The "Davy" named in 2 Henry
IV is not given a last name, and he is not leader of an acting troupe
but servant to a Justice of the Peace. I can't help with Richard
Hathaway, but Randall Martin and I recently published information about
previously unnoticed local references in 3 Henry VI, in Shakespeare
Quarterly 51 (2000), 332-52.
