Larry Barkley informs us about this:

> In Charles Boyce's SHAKESPEARE A TO Z, I came upon an interesting

> Lady question Mr. Boyce writes, "Others include Lucy Morgan (active
> 1579-1600), a one-time lady-in-waiting to Queen Elizabeth who became a
> brothel keeper." Queen and brothel keeper--a most amazing woman.

The heck with the queen (quean?). Who is this noble-bawd? Is there any
confirmation of this delectable rumor? I suspect it's based on
slanderous lies about a real LIW who didn't do anything of the kind, or
on a real brothel keeper who claimed to be of noble blood, but wasn't.

Still, I'd like to know if it was true after all. Anybody have more
information? A more detailed source?

Cheers,

Queen and brothel keeper--a most amazing woman.

Larry should not be surprised

If he were to meet Queen Elizabeth II he would find the preferred form
of address is Ma'am, pronounced as 'Marm"

Now you know the rest of the story
