Subject: Ely Place
With regard to the question about Ely Place, the land belonged (and I
believe still does) to the bishopric of Ely, in the Isle of Ely, which
is now in Cambridgeshire. There is a church in the lane, which still has
a connection to the Ely diocese. The geographical borders of the county
of Cambridgeshire are not, and have never been, anywhere near London.
