Subject: 13.1432 More Theobald
Comment: Re: SHK 13.1432 More Theobald
Tom Bishop recently composed a wonderfully witty limerick on the
subject:
The Shakespearean editor, Theobald
Published lyrics both vulgar and reobald
On his enemy Pope,
Who observed, "He must hope
We will think they were lisped and not dreobald."
To which the editor replied:
"It's a lie!" Cried our pedant, old Theobald,
"Not a single bad line have I screobald.
And though slander is staple
From all sources papal,
It's a Bishop by whom I've been leobald."
