Fresh Perspectives on Conflict & Change
An History Conference for Postgraduates, by Postgraduates

Call for Papers

The Sussex University Postgraduate History Forum invites papers for its
3rd annual conference, to be held on 17th and 18th March 2003 at the
University of Sussex, Brighton. This year?s conference topic is ?Fresh
Perspectives on Conflict and Change?.

We invite all postgraduate history students who study on related topics
and are interested in exchanging ideas with other postgraduate students
from all round Britain to participate as speakers, and as attendants.
Participants should feel free to interpret the two concepts of conflict
and change as widely as they wish. We would particularly accept papers
that offer fresh perspectives in historical method, theory, and topics
such as:

Post-Colonialism
Gender & Sexuality
Contested Identities
Art & Culture
Social Movements
Race & Nationality
Politics & Government
Globalisation

The conference will also feature guest speakers, workshops and skill
sessions on topics such as: Oral History, Presentation Skills, The Role
of the Internet in Historical Research and many more.

Final Papers should be 15-20 minutes reading time in length. Please
submit abstracts of proposed papers (approximately 250 words) by 30
January 2003 to:

David Foy
GRC Humanities, Arts B
