Subject: Reimagining Shakespeare for Children and Young Adults

This is just to let SHAKESPERians know of the publication of a book I
think some of you may be interested in: Reimagining Shakespeare for
Children and Young Adults, a collection of essays written by authors,
illustrators, academics, teachers, etc, and edited by Naomi J. Miller,
of Arizona State University. The book is published by Routledge, New
York and London, it's in a series on children's literature (general
editor Jack Zipes)and its ISBN is 0 415 93856 2 There are three main
sections to the book: I: Biography, Adaptation and Fictionalization; II:
Interpretation and Critique; III: Pedagogy and Performance, with 31
pieces in all, plus the Editor's introduction. It is a substantial
achievement, and for those working with children and young people, it
might well be a most worthwhile publication. At least two members of
SHAKSPER (myself and JB Cheaney) contributed to this landmark
publication (perhaps there are more?).
