Subject: Death and Orgasm
Claude Caspar 13.2188 opines that the equation between sexual climax and
death is traceable to the state in which orgasm is accompanied by a loss
of consciousness and to the fact that some deaths are accompanied by
orgasm. Another explanation is inherent in the folk belief that a
person is born with a certain number of orgasms in him (her too, sans
doute) and that when the last has been spent, the person dies. This, it
says, is why <orgasm> in modern French is called <le petit mort>, a
little death in the sense that it foreshadows the approaching real death
when all the allotted orgasms will have been spent
Cheers
