For anyone interested in Shakespeare hoaxes there is a wonderful
description of an 18th century hoax that even fooled Boswell it would
seem. The account appears in "Banvard's Folly" a compilation of essays
on great but forgotten life efforts.
The other essays in the book are also fascinating and delightfully
written
