Subject: Shakespeare's Romances
Not the origin, but perhaps useful:
"63. Phillip Edwards, in 'Shakespeare's Romances: 1900-1957',
Shakespeare Survey, 11 (1958) 15, writes, 'That Shakespeare's last plays
are "romances" "in the restricted and historical sense of the word", as
Petit puts it, does not seem to be a matter for doubt'. For a dissenting
view, see Diana T. Childress, 'Are Shakespeare's Last Plays Really
Romances?', Shakespeare's Late Plays, ed. Richard C. Tobias and Paul G.
Zolbrod (Athens, Ohio: Ohio UP, 1974) pp. 44-55."
