Subject: Picturing Shakespeare

Hello SHAKSPEReans:

Here is an article from one of our local papers, the Globe and Mail, on
the recent "Picturing Shakespeare" conference which was held here in
Toronto. For some reason which now escapes me, (surely not a wifely
command?) I was out of town when the conference took place. Still, I
would be interested in seeing posted to the list the thoughts of anyone
who was able to attend. Mr. Cook? That would be you! In particular,
there was a public lecture by Professor Alexander Leggatt (Department of
English, University of Toronto) entitled: "The Sanders Portrait: Why
Does It Matter?"

Good question. Can anyone out there summarize Professor Leggat's
argument? Why does it matter?

Terve Kullervo
