Subject: Zeffirelli & Almareyda HAMLETS
A new page has been added to bardolatry containing my notes on the 1990
Mel Gibson/Franco Zeffirelli HAMLET. Over the years I've ended up
liking it (very much) in spite of the hatchet job done on the text.
I've also managed to get the screen-capture thingy up and running again,
so there are some nice pictures to boot. Check it out at:
http://www.bardolatry.com/gibham.htm and feel free to pester us with
message, pro or con.
Also, in case you missed it, our dear Johnny-O posted a review of the
2000 Almereyda/Ethan Hawke HAMLET a few weeks ago at
http://www.bardolatry.com/hawkeham.htm . Can't say I liked it quite as
much as my son did, though it has its moments, most of them belonging to
Sam Shepard and Kyle MacLachlan. I hope to post my own views on same in
the near future...family argument, hammer and tongs!
