Subject: Apology to Mike Jensen
Dear SHAKSPEReans:
I would like to apologize to Mike Jensen for posting what he meant to be
a private inquiry to me about why he had not received the digest with
his response.
Because it was a private letter, Mike used language that he would never
use in public. I am sorry for any unintended consequences of my mistake.
A reminder to all, please make sure that all private messages to me are
so marked; I am not the brightest kid on the block.
Hardy

Don Bloom writes: "I am glad to hear that all relics of the Immortal
Bard are being preserved but was not aware that he smoked."
Marlowe, according to Baines (I think) apparently smoked; perhaps he and
Will shared a bowl at some time. I remember seeing a story in the press
about a year or so ago about a pipe dating to the Elizabethan/Jacobean
era being discovered near the site of New Place, with traces of hemp in
it. Has anyone seen anything further on this?

Comment: RE: SHK 13.2035 Stratford Tourism
Nothing offered by Guide Friday is worth the aggravation, let alone the
cost. Twenty-one years ago, when Guide Friday was just getting its
start, it was ubiquitous in the organization of the World Shakespeare
Congress in Stratford. Its performance was so unsatisfactory that I
resolved never to have anything to do with the company again. This
resolution has nothing to do with my nationality but everything to do
with my experience of over-pricing and shoddiness at Guide Friday's
hands. Caveat Emptor, Anglicanus/a sive Americanus/a!
Cheers,
John Mahon
