Sogang University, Seoul, Korea

Department of English Language and Literature

Assistant Professor in

(i) Early modern British drama including Shakespeare

or

(ii) British and / or American Cultures

Candidates are sought for the above position. Applicants should hold a
Ph.D. in one of these areas. The job begins on March 2, 2003. The
contract is for an initial two years, renewable to tenure. The salary is
competitive. Benefits include regular bonuses, health insurance, and a
pension scheme.

Sogang University is a Jesuit University, founded in 1960. Information
about the programs of the English Department can be found at

The Department hopes to find someone whose qualifications show an
ability to teach Renaissance or other early modern (pre-1800) drama at
undergraduate and graduate school levels. This includes Shakespeare, but
knowledge of and ability to teach other dramatists is required. A broad
knowledge of the history of English literature as a whole, especially in
the earlier periods, would be expected. The Department will also
consider candidates with qualifications in the area of British or
American cultures, to teach courses in the British and American Cultures
Major.
