Dear All,
"...to use and exercise the arte and faculty of playinge Comedies,
Tragedies, historyes, Enterludes, Moralles, Pastoralles, Stageplays and
suche other like..."
Well depending what your opinion of their dates there are the 'cronicle'
histories and romance histories such as:
The Cronicle History of King Leir (1594?)
The Scottish History of James IV (before Sept.3rd 1592) published 1598
plus:
The History of John Oldcastle / the History of Thomas Lord Cromwell
(publ. in 1664 in the 3rd S. Folio but supposedly dating from 1600 and
1602 respectively)
Ps. I hope everyone lifted a glass of foaming ale to the late great and
insufficiently ubiquitous Robert Greene on his deathday! It was an
anniversary of kinds 1592-2002...
