Subject: Ohio Shakespeare Conference
Dear SHAKSPEReans,
Please note that the Ohio Shakespeare Conference deadline for submitting
substantial abstracts or completed ten-page papers was extended to
September 15.
Please also check out the conference web site which provides more
information about our plenary speakers. The address is
http://faculty.trumbull.kent.edu/english/ohioshakes.htm. I usually
just use the dumb way to get at it: I go to Google and type in Ohio
Shakespeare Conference 2002--it's the first item on the list.
A heads-up and an appeal.
The National Shakespeare Company which we had booked for a performance
of Macbeth and associated work shops has CANCELED its fall tour. That
means I have been scrambling to find a replacement. Negations with
Aquila Theater in NYC for their Comedy of Errors and educational
workshop were going well--but we cannot afford their $25,000 fee. I
have some prospects of bringing Actors from the London Stage up from
their stint at Ohio State University which is occurring the week of the
conference; I have also spoken with a production manager at the Great
Lakes Theater Festival--their new director, Charles Fee, is interested
in forming a touring group based at Great Lakes: he is also, of course,
a well-known director of Shakespeare festivals. Nothing is settled,
however.
ANY ADDITIONAL IDEAS OR REFERENCES OR CONTACTS WOULD BE VASTLY
APPRECIATED--and the sooner any one has any ideas the better.

Organizer, Ohio Shakespeare Festival 2002
