In a production in the late 'eighties at Michael Kahn's Shakespeare
Theatre in DC, the same actor / dancer played the bear, the oracle,
Time, and various courtiers. As the bear, he wore only a mask and
claws, and he pursued Antigonous with slow, graceful, stylized
movements. I reviewed this production in Shakespeare Quarterly. Also,
I believe the RSC did a production in the late 'eighties, with Jeremy
Irons, in which a large bearskin rug at the court of Sicilia reared up
and became the pursuing bear, but I didn't actually see this one. (It
also was reviewed in SQ.)

Best,
