Albert Cohn's Shakespeare in Germany (Wiesbaden: Martin Sandig oHg, 1967
reprint) is a good beginner's source for information on the troupes of
the German Wanderbuhne.... pp 29-33 esp deal with Robert Browne (who
incidentally appears to have been the step father of famous actor Edward
Alleyn, with whom he had played in Worcester's Men prior to travelling
to the continent)... However to get at the really good stuff about these
players seek original sources such as the passports and playbills
(reprints /translations)of the libraries of e.g. Vienna, or Cassel, or
turn to old-style German philologists such as Brennecke, Herz and
Heine...
