Fellow SHAKSPERians,
I felt I should put in my voice on this quickly as I am currently in
residence as an NEH scholar for the "Shakespeare's Theatres: Inside and
Out." We are getting incredible access to the Shenandoah Shakespeare
Blackfriars playhouse as well as working with their actors and seeing
their shows. We are in the midst of the second of three weeks here, then
followed by two weeks in London at the Globe (where our access will be
decidedly less).
The folks here are an incredible bunch. Their vision and passion are
infectious, and the theatre space is incredible. Their productions are
top-notch and always thought-provoking, and the accessibility their
"lights on" performances give the audience is unmatched, I think.
Perhaps I'll write more later, but I thought it worthwhile to provide
first-hand, on-hand support for the strong praise already being heaped
on Shenandoah Shakespeare.
