Subject: Playing Comedy and Tragedy
Is it of some interest that the question about whether actors can span
both comic and tragic has so far been explored only in relation to male
performers. Yet there are many women who have played both - Judy Dench
to name but one. (Mind you, a reviewer in the School magazine received
my Maria much less well than Miranda the previous year, saying that I
was better suited to serious parts - which just confirms that I am no
actor.)
