I recently read and very much enjoyed a comic novel by Ron Hansen, ISN'T
IT ROMANTIC? An Entertainment. Since I recommended it highly, my
husband tried it. When he'd finished he told me that he agreed it was
quite funny and that he knew why I'd liked it so much: "It's a
rewriting of A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM."

Although I hadn't realized that connection until he mentioned it, he's
quite right--the novel does use bits of MND and those bits are why I
particularly enjoyed it. (Of course, any novelist who can describe the
likely consequence of mixing wine snobbery and Cornhusker football has
to have a vivid imagination.) The publisher is Harper Collins (2003),
and the book's well worth your attention.
