Subject: Critical Location of Postings
Dear SHAKSPEReans:
I am currently writing an essay about SHAKSPER for a collection of
essays entitled "Shakespeare and Information Technology" to be published
as a special edition of the journal *College Literature*.
In this essay, I plan to provide a description of the list, its history,
my work in editing the digests, the intricacies of moderating the list,
memorable discussions, and ongoing topics. In describing the list, I
would like to characterize the critical positions in which members'
contributions are situated, and I would appreciate any private
suggestions that anyone would wish to send to me.
I am not trying to cast positions these as binaries. I have, however,
thought about such critical locations as traditionalists, universalists,
historicists, formalists, new historicists, post-modernists, feminists,
relativists, deconstructionists, materialists, and presentists. This
list constitutes only my first thoughts and may not even make it into
the essay. However, I am interested in any private feedback members
might provide.
Thanks,
Hardy
