Subject:        A New Book about *Hamlet*

I've been asked by Elisa von Joeden-Forgey, a historian at my
university, to pass on the following notice, which will be of interest
to Shakespearians. She has been in contact with a person here in
Philadelphia named Herta Grove, a German-Jewish refugee whose husband
Victor used to be a professor of English and occasionally taught courses
at the University of Pennsylvania (in the 1950s and 60s, she thinks).
Victor Grove wrote several books (among them, *The Language Bar*, 1950,
on the history, etymology, study, and teaching of English). Another,
about *Hamlet*, was never published but has now appeared in Germany from
Lit Verlag.

Ms. Grove asked Ms. Joeden-Forgey to inquire about possible ways of
"getting the word out" about the book, and the inquiry eventually came
to me. For readers whose collections include (as ours does) critical
works on Shakespeare written in languages other than English, the book
will be a welcome acquisition. It is
