For Daniel Vainstub and all other SHAKSPEReans and Shakespeareans it is
useful to know that in The Shakespeare Newsletter, commemorative issue
of April-May 1964, on pages 51 to 55, I published a list of
Dissertations in English and German, with the University granting it,
chronically arranged from 1867 to 1963. I may have missed a few, but
there are about 500 of them. The issue (pages 13 to 60) is well worth
the having. It is called a "Synoptic View of The Past, Present & Future
of Shakespearean Scholarship & Criticism." All the authors were and are
respectable scholars in their fields. The 5000 copies are long out of
print, but libraries have them. Louis Marder, avon4@Juno,com. I would
like to hear from Professor Vainstub.
