Subject:        Throne of Blood on DVD

Those who are fans of Akira Kurosawa's Macbeth adaptation THRONE OF
BLOOD may be pleased to learn that a Criterion DVD edition was announced
today.  The edition will include a newly remastered picture, the
original soundtrack, an audio commentary track by Michael Jeck (an
expert on Japanese film), new subtitles, a trailer, and an essay by
Stephen Prince.  This promises to be comparable to Criterion's fine
laserdisc edition (long out of print), and a significant improvement
over the Mei Ah DVD version, the only DVD version with English subtitles
currently available (to my knowledge).  It is scheduled to appear on May
13.
