Subject: Query: Standard Work On Early English Book Publishing
Could some knowledgeable list members refer me to a couple of modern
authorities (or standard works) on the history of the book in England
from Caxton to about 1600? I'd like something comprehensive that
includes discussion of typography, author-printer-publisher relations,
and bookselling.
My research project is Hall's Chronicle (1548, 1550), so the focus of
such a reference book could be early 16th century and be extremely
useful.
Thanks in advance,
Al Magary
