always refrained from buying region 2 DVDs (although some films--i.e.
Nunn's Twelfth Night--are available on DVD only in that format)
because, as far as I understand, region 2 DVDs work only if your player
is either region 2 or "code-blind" and your TV is capable of reproducing
PAL output. In other words, in order to play region 2 DVDs you need to
have a DVD player that can read them but also a TV that can reproduce
the output. Am I wrong?"
Not positive, but I believe you are. As far as I know, my TV's (one is
quite old) do not have PAL capacity. But the VCR and DVD players I own
can play PAL videos and region 2 DVDs just fine. It's worth buying a
region 2 DVD from amazon.co.uk and testing it. You can always return it
if it fails to work.
I also wanted to recommend the Intervideo WIN DVD 4 player. You can
download it for 29.00. (Don't get the platinum version. It's no better
and not worth the extra money.) http://www.intervideo.com/jsp/Home.jsp
No financial relation.
