Subject:        The Globalization of Shakespeare in the Nineteenth Century

THE GLOBALIZATION OF SHAKESPEARE IN THE NINETEENTH CENTURY has been
recently published by the Edwin Mellen Press (2003). The essays evolved
from an international seminar on "Nineteenth-Century Shakespeare:
Global/Local" convened by me at the Shakespeare Association of America
meeting in Montreal in 2000. As the volume editors, we--John Mercer and
I-- would like to thank all the contributors for their patience and
devoted scholarship. Without their knowledge and expertise this volume
would not exist.
