Subject: Love in Idleness
Dear fellow SHAKSPERians:
A short note on a new novel that may be of interest: British writer
Amanda Craig's new novel, Love in Idleness, which is based, inspired,
constructed on A Midsummer Night's Dream. I've read it just
recently--set in Tuscany and featuring English, American and British
Indian characters, it's a light as thistledown comedy of manners, love
story (multiplied by several!) rich evocation of place, as well as a
clever and believable evocation of the fairies and their mischief, with
a touch of that slightly sinister melancholy that attaches to such
things. A very nice way to while away a few hours!
