Subject: Query: Hamlet, Director
Dear Friends,
I recall reading in the scholarly literature on Hamlet a comment about
the prince's advice to the players in 3.2 "Speak the speech, I pray you,
etc." which characterized Hamlet as performing the role of director (or
chamberlain) in shaping the players' decorum. Can anyone provide a
reference to the article in which this comment appears?
Many thanks.
Steve
