Subject: Eunuchs

After reading 1.2.47-63 in Twelfth Night, one of my students wondered
what the audience of the time might think of this reference to eunuchs.
While I could explain the use of eunuchs in opera and the church (in
Italy) I could not fully answer the question regarding the English
Renaissance view. Any comments an/or sources that might help answer this
question would be appreciated.
