Subject: A Question on Shakespeare Volumes
Could anyone on the list provide me with information on the following
volumes or point me to a site that could provide such information? The
volumes:
"The Pictorial Edition of the Works of Shakespere[sic]", edited by
Charles Knight. The second edition, revised. P.F. Collier, New York. I
have vols. 5-6 (Histories), vol 7 (A Biography), vol 8 (Doubtful Plays,
etc.)
There is no date imprint; however, the Preface to the Biography
indicates this is the revision of his volume published in 1843. The
latest date I can find in the material itself is in this note on the
Shakspere House and New Place: "In September, 1865, Mr. Ramsey visited
Stratford, at the request of the writer of this 'Biography;' and has
furnished him with the following memorandum of the condition of New
Place:--"
Any help with this would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Joanne Walen
