I listened to the whole radio show.  Very interesting.  The prisoners
acting was pretty terrible but what was truly touching was the way
Shakespeare's writing stood up to the violent cynicism of the battered
murderers.  Several poetic images pierced their hoary skins and made
them think of other things for the first time in their lives.  Such is
the power of the poetry.  Right there in the hot, messy rehearsals of
Hamlet was the burning light that could enable those souls to be
reclaimed.  They knew that Shakespeare knew what was inside them - foul
murderers that they be.  All we need is forgiveness to close the
circle.  There's poetry for that too.
