Greenaway did have difficulty editing the film in Japan and actually did
so in a studio supposedly not part of Japan (as far as he Japanese were
concerned. I discuss the pornographic book in Prospero's library in the
film and screenplay (quite different versions) in Unspeakable
ShaXXXspeares. There was also a quasi-softcore story on the film in a
men's magazine called New Look (the title is in English), Mai 1991,
124-31. The mag was (is?) a kind of Sport's Illustrated meets Playboy
and a forerunner of mags like FHM, Maxim, etc. I can send scanned
images of the story to anyone who is interested.
