Subject: Shakespeare in Sinbad
I don't think anyone has yet commented on the thinly veiled allusions to
Shakespeare in the recent Dreamworks film *Sinbad: Legend of the Seven
Seas*. The two central male figures are friends of long standing who
fall in love with the same woman. One of them is named Proteus,
although he is the "loyal" one rather than the rogue. A dog also
features prominently. Joseph Fiennes, the actor who voices Proteus,
played the title role in *Shakespeare in Love,* which (coincidentally
perhaps) also contained several references to *The Two Gentlemen of
Verona.*
Additionally, the primary female character is named Marina.
