Subject: 14.1053 Shakespeare by the Sea
Comment: Re: SHK 14.1053 Shakespeare by the Sea
As an addendum to Brad Berens note about Shakespeare by the Sea in Los
Angeles, I should mention that almost the same url leads to an eponymous
festival in Halifax's Point Pleasant Park:
http://www.shakespearebythesea.ca
I shan't have a chance to see them, since I'm be in Vancouver at the
time (whose festival is at http://www.bardonthebeach.org ), then Kelowna
( http://www.bardonthebeach.org/vinyard ). The Halifax festival is
playing Coriolanus and Merry Wives throughout the season, a special
production of MND on Canada Day at four in the morning (so much for the
actual middle of summer), and a run of Hamlet inside a Martello Tower.
Bard on the Beach is playing Merchant and Comedy of Errors on the
mainstage, with Pericles in the Douglas Campbell Studio Stage, and a
short run of a play called Shylock, about a Jewish actor defending the
role. Bard in the Vinyard is producing MND throughout August.
Yours by the ocean,
Sean.

In response to Brad Berens's request, this is our local free Shakespeare
company (I've worked with them as dramaturg):
www.shakespeareinthepark.org
This summer's production is _Twelfth Night_, which opens July 4 and runs
through August 9 in parks in Minneapolis, St. Paul, and nearby suburbs.
