Subject: Robin MacNeil on June 18
Journalist Robert MacNeil
Introduces His New Memoir
Until his retirement from the program in 1995, Robert MacNeil was
co-anchor of PBS's award-winning MacNeil Lehrer NewsHour. He's also the
author of three novels, a recently produced drama, Karla, and two works
of nonfiction, one of which, Wordstruck, is a narrative about his deep
affection for our language and for Shakespeare in particular.
Ever the most eloquent of television reporters, Mr. MacNeil is the
genial host who brought The Story of English to our homes, and he's now
at work on a sequel, Do You Speak American? In the interim he's graced
us with Looking For My Country, his moving account of how a native of
Canada finally concluded that he should become a United States citizen.
He'll talk about and read selections from this beautiful volume, and
then he'll be happy to sign copies, which will be available for purchase
by means of a special arrangement with Olssons.
