Subject: Re: Funeral Elegye
B. Vickers writes:
"Ford's coinages include such 'nonce-words' as 'uncut thy twist of
life', 'all the pipes / Of life un-vessel life, 'uncrowne the greatnesse
/ Of his prevailing fates'. This open-class category gives all users of
the English language the possibility of invention: I still remember my
surprise some 20 years ago hearing an American friend use the
exclamation 'un-fucking-believable!' (if Hardy will permit this
linguistic example in the interests of scientific progress)."
Perhaps it's a point more honored in the breach than the observance, but
a poeticker construction is "unbe-fucking-lievable!"
