Baiting Ring and the Public Playhouse in Elizabethan England" (U. of
Iowa, 1963), and his later article drawn from some of this material,
"The Popularity of Baiting in England Before 1600: A Study in Social and
Theatrical History," Educational Theatre Journal 21 (1969): 237-50.
