Subject: Re: Henry Irving Works of Shakespeare
[Editor's Note: I periodically get message such as this one. If you have
any interest, please contact the poster directly at
I would like to enquire about the complete 8 volume set of Sir Henry
Irvings 'Complete works of William Shakespeare' that I have been
entrusted to sell or donate on behalf of a friends mother who died
recently with all proceeds going direct to a cancer charity.
The books are leather bound, gilded and in good condition (see attached
picture). Details are as follows:
1. publisher - Blackie and Son Ltd,
2. date of publication - no indication in the books but assumed to be 1897
3. Illustrations by Gordon Browne
4. condition of the books: General wear as you might expect with age.
Binding is tight with no loose spines. No tears. Gold leaf on top edges.
If you could spare the time to consider the above I'd be most grateful.
If it is possible for you to sell them too or if you could suggest an
appropriate means of selling or even donation to an appropriate
organisation that would be great.
