Your editor along with all users of the Internet has been having a tough
time with spammers recently.
Corrupted spam messages are causing me extra work retrieving the
messages sent to this list.
We have also had a problem with spammers spoofing our address to send
spam. This past week, we were blocked by AOL for spamming. This problem
has been further complicated by my ATT commercial DSL provider's refusal
to use our registered domain name, making it appear that we are sending
spam and disqualifying us from being "Whitelisted" by AOL.
Through Eric Luhrs heroic efforts, AOL is removing the block it placed
on our mailings, even though we are not being "Whitelisted." Removal of
the block, however, may take several days and will only be a temporary
fix until the next round of complaints about our address.
In a related matter, a list member has suggested that I replace all @s
in e-mail addresses with AT to discourage spammer from harvesting
addresses of members posting to the list. I am going to bring this
matter up with the SHAKSPER Advisory Board when we get a handle on all
that has been going on.
I apologize for any disruption of service to members, but all who use
the Internet are experiencing similar difficulties.
