Subject: A Recent Santayana Paper Concerning His Observation on
Religion in Shakespeare
In the past I have cited Santayana's seminal essay, "The Absence of
Religion in Shakespeare." As far as I know, he is the first to draw
this distinction and has opened a portal many have since walked through
as a "given." [Of course, as Santayana famously observed, "Nothing
Given Exists."]
