Subject: Censors Confuted
Shaksper members who believe, like me, that one of the great moments in
Western civilization comes when, in BARTHOLOMEW FAIR, the puppet
Dionysius silences the antitheatrical ravings of Zeal-of-the-Land Busy
by raising his skirts to show that he is neither male nor female, will
be delighted to know that even though there are still Busys in the
world, the Dionysian spirit is not dead. The South Park creators,
defending their puppet-film TEAM AMERICA: WORLD POLICE against those who
want to give it a NC-17 rating because it depicts a sex act, say "our
characters are made of wood and have no genitalia. If the puppets did to
each other what we show them doing, all they'd get is splinters."
And a plague of splinters on all such censors.
