Given the bashing--whether justly or unjustly--Charles Weinstein has
endured for bashing--whether justly or unjustly--Simon Russell Beale, it
seems a matter of simple equity to thank him for his enlightening post
referring to another much admired actor--Ian Holm.

And I liked Brian Willis's response as well.

Charles Weinstein writes

 >I have no idea what Holm said to Mr. Willis in person, but the above
 >does not strike me as a palinode. And with all due respect and
 >admiration for both of them, it is hardly irrelevant to note that
 >Guinness never achieved greatness in Shakespeare, and that Holm has not
 >come close to rivaling Olivier (as I suspect Holm himself would be the
 >first to admit).

And yet I'm sure Weinstein would agree: a bisexual like Olivier could
never be credible playing the more virile roles in the Shakespeare canon.

Oops, I'm sorry; I thought he was talking about Beale. And of course,
Olivier wasn't a fatso, so I suppose his having been a faggot is
probably OK.
