Subject: Metadramatic Devices in Hamlet-Films
Has anyone in the list ever come over anything dealing with the
adaptation of metadramatic devices (such as the _Dumb Show_ and the play
within the play in _Hamlet_) to film? I'm writing a doctoral
dissertation on that topic and would like to show that although
metadramatic devices seem to be purely theatrical conventions, they play
an important role in all the film versions of _Hamlet_ and mostly even
have the same function as they do in the drama ("to hold the mirror up
to nature").
If anyone could help me in any way with this, I'd be very, very grateful.
Klara
