As a critic's husband and actor's dad, I can state confidently that most
opening night theatrical audiences in the North American professional
theater are largely comprised of people who have not paid for their
tickets--critics, family and friends of the producers and actors and
staff, major financial supporters. And the posted prices are the same
as for the rest of the run.
