Subject: Re: Chadwyk-Healey Database (LION)

Dear fellow Shaksper.netians,

I am having a little pain with a few of my searches on LION, and I was
hoping someone might have an idea or two on how to help with search
commands. It is easy enough to find the occurrence of single words and
phrases, but I was hoping to search for texts that contain multiple
phrases in close proximity within a text. In other words, I can search
for all the occurrences of the word "fire," and I can search for all the
occurrences of the word "water," but I can't input a command that limits
the search results to texts that contain both "fire" and "water" in the
same passage (while simultaneously eliminating the passages that have
only one of the two words). Boolean-style search commands don't appear
to work, and the help and info sections of LION don't offer any clues,
either. If this is possible with LION (perhaps the database search
engine is not sophisticated enough to do this), I would appreciate any
suggestions.

Thanks,
William Davis
