Dr. Frank Baxter was the genial, talking head host (accompanied by maps,
stills, etc.) in a program of educational films, called "The Fair
AdventureSeries," made to celebrate the Shakespeare Quadricentennial
observation in 1964. His "down-home," avuncular style ("Lot going on in
the Middle Ages. People didn't just vegetate like turnips"), however
old-fashioned, remains wonderfully effective. There is a fuller
description in Shakespeare on Screen, eds. K. Rothwell and A. Melzer
(New York: Neal -Schuman, 1990), items 688-93, 693.1. Westinghouse
Broadcasting Company transmitted the series on television. Long ago the
Univ. of South Florida at Tampa (33620) allegedly held 16mm copies in
its educational resources facility. Very few of these 16mm educational
films remain unless at some point they were transferred to video. By now
I suspect the place to look might be the Museum of Broadcasting in New
York City. Ken Rothwell
