Subject: A Query: MLA's Variorum Project
I have an inquiry from a colleague, not a subscriber to this list, who asks:
>Once upon a time, the MLA announced (I think) a project to bring out an
>encoded edition of Furness's Variorum Shakespeare. Has this gone
anywhere?
>Are there people/sites that might have information about it?
>
>Relatedly: would an encoded Variorum would add significant scholarly value
>to the set? What about a project that would create an encoded Variorum AND
>make available in scanned formats the corpus of notes, files, and corres-
>pondence standing behind the project?
These questions will have a variety of answers known to subscribers to
this list. But subscribers might also have helpful reactions to the
questions my colleague asks in his second paragraph.
For all responses, our gratitude.
